CORVETTE PERFORMANCE
The 6.2L LS3 small-block V8 is the engine in Corvette and Grand Sport models. It is rated at 321kw (430hp) and 575nm (424lb-ft) with the standard exhaust system. An optional dual-mode exhaust system brings a power increase to 325kw (436hp)) and 580nm (428lb-ft). A standard six-speed manual transmission and an optional six-speed automatic paddle-shift are offered.
Launch control is standard on manual transmission-equipped models, and optimises performance for full-throttle starts on a track. In competitive mode, the system will hold a predetermined engine speed while the driver pushes the throttle to the floor. That allows the driver to quickly release the clutch and the system modulates engine torque 100 times per second to maximise the available traction. The system is capable of approaching a skilled driver’s best effort and repeats it consistently.
A dry-sump engine oiling system is standard on Grand Sport models equipped with a manual transmission.
CORVETTE GRAND SPORT
The Corvette Grand Sport is available in coupe and convertible body styles, and features wider front and rear fenders – including specific front fenders with integrated Grand Sport badges – as well as a Z06-style front splitter and tall rear spoiler. Functional brake ducts and extra cooling support track-day performance.
Grand Sport models come with 18-inch front and 19-inch rear wheels. A silver-painted wheel is standard and black and chrome finishes are available. The wheels are wrapped in large 275/35ZR18 tyres in front and 325/30ZR19 tyres in the rear.
Also part of the package are Z06-size brakes, including 14-inch (355mm) front rotors with six-piston calipers and 13.4-inch (340mm) rear rotors with four-piston calipers, along with specific manual transmission gear ratios and a specific, 2.73 rear axle ratio on automatic-equipped models.
A custom leather-wrapped interior package is standard on the 4LT trim, featuring a leather-wrapped upper and lower instrument panel, door pads and seats.
CORVETTE Z06
The Corvette Z06 is a dual-purpose sports car equally adept at daily driving or weekend excursions on the track. Its racing-inspired powertrain and suspension features, along with an aluminium frame and carbon fiber fenders and floor panels, contribute to a curb weight of only 1,451kg (dry weight of 1,379kg), making it the lightest, best-balanced Corvette model and one of the most svelte supercars on the market.
The 377kw (505hp) 7.0L LS7 V8 engine powers the lightweight Z06, helping deliver 0-60 performance of 3.7 seconds in first gear, quarter-mile times of 11.7 seconds at 125 mph and a top speed of 319km/h (198mph). It is assembled by hand at GM’s Performance Build Center.
On-track capability for the Z06 is maximised with the available Z07 performance package, highlighted by Michelin® Pilot® Sport Cup Zero Pressure tyres wrapped around lightweight cup-style wheels. When combined with Performance Traction Management (PTM) technology – which manages torque delivery for maximum performance – the tyres enable up to an 8-percent gain in maximum lateral acceleration, to 1.13g, and improved braking distance.
The CFZ-code Carbon Fiber Package gives the Z06 lightweight aero enhancements similar to those found on the ZR1. Included in the optional package is a black-painted carbon fiber front splitter, rockers, roof panel and a body-colour full-width rear spoiler. A raised-centre carbon fiber hood is available, as well.
